Moral Theories, Principles and Actions

Debates over moral matters tend to focus on what we should do and not do, what’s right and wrong in terms of actions. However, there’s more to morality than categorizing actions into Do’s and Don’ts. In this article, I would like to give some deserved attention to principles and moral theories, and to show how these influence and guide the actions that we take in life. (more…)

Rationalizing the Irrational

We are constantly trying to make sense of the world around us. From the weather to the traffic,  the planets to the plants in our gardens, we want to understand what things are like and why. This thirst for knowledge can only be quenched when we can fit the pieces together in a rational way. What strains our thinking the most is when we try to understand human behaviour, and struggle to comprehend the odd decisions people make and the actions they take. (more…)
